We have compiled a list of the latest fashion trends we are seeing for 2017. Incorporate these into your wardrobe and become a fashionista.

1.      Velvet:
a.

b.      Velvet is everywhere. From dresses to anarkalis, any attire in this fabric is THE fashion trend for 2017. It’s best for the colder months of the year when you want to be warm yet stylish. Whether you want a glamorous traditional Indian outfit for cousin’s wedding or a classy and elegant dress for your office party, you can find an outfit.
2.     Choker necklaces:
a.

b.      Last year began with people everywhere wearing statement, vintage-looking jewellery and year ended with everyone and their moms reaching for choker necklaces. Well, this year combines both the fashion trends and brings with statement choker necklaces. Be a trendsetter by picking ones like this Divya Chugh one in gold or the Ritika Sachdeva one in silver.
3.     Quirky colors worn together:
a.

b.      For all my minimalist, wear only black and white friends, challenge yourself and get on the color bandwagon as your new year resolution. You can take inspiration from these Indian fashion designer outfits and try blue and red together. Or blue with a bright lime green color. These combinations will ensure that your look is more eye-catching and less over the top. With these you’ll easily be able to be the center of attention anywhere you go.
4.     Graphic Sweatshirts:
a.

b.      This has been an Indian fashion trend for a few seasons now. Nothing spells cool girl like a graphic tee or sweatshirt. It is one of the easiest pieces of clothing to style. Just pair it with a pair of boyfriend jeans or skinny jeans or skater skirt, and you are good to go. This is the best option for the days you are lazy or late and want something that you can just throw on and yet, look put together.
5.     Off-shoulder everything:
a.

b.      From not so traditional Indian lehenga tops to quirky tunics, you can now find literally everything off-shoulder. This style can take boring everyday clothing pieces to the next level. It shows the perfect amount of skin while being very modest. Get yourself one of these and up your glam quotient.

Indian Fashion Inspiration: Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor is undoubtedly the reigning queen of the Indian fashion scene. Everything she dons is a fashion statement. We scoured the net and found some pieces with which you too can look like the coveted fashionista. Find some inspiration from Sonam for your best friend’s wedding or your family’s Holi party.

1.

a.      This is Sonam decked out for Bipasha’s wedding. She tricked the eye by draping the saree in such a way to make it seem that the blouse was adorned with ruffles. stole hearts in this unique saree look that she wore for Bipasha’s wedding. You too can achieve the look by draping your saree in a similar style over a strapless blouse like this one by Indian fashion designer, Payal Singhal. Pair this gorgeous net and silk saree with some wavy, beachy hair and natural makeup. This outfit is perfect for attending that beach destination wedding.
2.

a.      Attending a wedding soon? Don’t have an Indian outfit to wear? Create a traditional look like throwing together a fashion designer boxy crop top, Bodice midi skirt and Vrisa dupatta. Keep in mind to the pieces in the same or complementary color palette. To make it look more festive, take a cue from Sonam Kapoor and incorporate metallic details into your outfit. Be it the bold, golden border on the dupatta or the metallic sheen on the skirt.

3.

a.      Attending weddings in the winter are a pain in the ass. Try something unexpected like Sonam Kapoor and layer an IKAI trench coat over your saree. It will keep your warm and make you stand out in a crowd of sarees and lehengas. We can always trust Sonam and her stylist to create such avant-garde and unique outfits.
4.

a.      Here Sonam upgraded a simple, regular saree to the next level by changing up the draping style of the pallu. Follow in her footsteps and go for a front drape of the pallu. Since this Indian designer saree by Anavila itself is so plain, accessorize like Sonam with some statement silver necklace. For makeup, go for some statement matte red lip and put your hair up in a bun.
5.

a.      This was how Sonam Kapoor celebrated her Diwali. Doesn’t she look like an Indian princess? To bring out the aristocratic vibe of the outfit, she draped her dupatta over her shoulder in the style of a cape. Try a similar look with this Payal Singhal lehenga and a diaphanous dupatta and look like royalty yourself.
6.

a.      Sonam is well-loved for going all out with her styling choices but if we know Sonam at all, her forte is actually surprising everyone. Here she proves that sometimes less is definitely more. She displays her girlish charms in this peachy-pink Anarkali. To get this girl-next-door look, wear a similar Indian fashion designer Anarkali by Debyani and pair it with some matte red lips and pretty chandbalis. And you’ll be all set for the mehendi ceremony of your best friend.
7.

a.      Sometimes when you need to go all out and get all glammed up, here is a perfect outfit it. Sonam wears a heavily embellished golden blouse and lehenga in a simple color palette to keep the look balanced. Wear a similar gold lehenga by Shyam Narayan Prasad and style it with some matha-patti, golden eyeliner and pink lips.
8.

a.      Sonam goes for an ethereal look in a pretty white-and-pink saree and gajra in her hair. We found an Indian fashion designer saree by Rashmi Verma in a similar color palette but the interesting detail about this saree is that it is a fusion saree dress. It comes with all the grace of draping a regular saree with all the ease of throwing on a dress. You are sure to be a trendsetter in this saree-dress.

7-Day Style Challenge: Fashion Sneakers

If you are a heels-only girl like me, wearing sneakers for a week is unthinkable. Since it’s the New Years, let’s make a resolution together to try wearing sneakers for a full week straight. Our feets will thank us. I have put together some outfits to ease you into the challenge.

Monday:

To kick off the week, I paired a pretty pink-scallop edged top with some plain medium wash skinny jeans and trendy white sneakers. The fly-flower bracelet add sweet, feminine touches to the outfit, in complete contrast to the uber-casual jeans-sneakers combo. This outfit is perfect for class or running errands.

Tuesday:

For tuesday, I paired a comfortable black dress with a patterned trench coat and the same pair of sneakers as above. Since the entire outfit has mostly darker tones, the design on the back of the coat and the delicate fashion necklace helps lighten up the mood. And give the outfit a little dressier feel. But the sneakers add just the right hint of casual so that you can wear this about your campus. You can easily take this look from day to night by just swapping out your sneakers with heels.

Wednesday:

While the accessories are very basic and neutral, the colorful blouse brings the outfit to life. The distressed boyfriend jeans and the plain grey sneakers help tone down the outfit. This look is very versatile and can be easily worn out for lunch dates, study groups and club meetings.

Thursday:

This outfit is for the days you want to look fashionable yet comfortable. The leggings and the infinity scarf will ensure that you are warm and cozy, while the edgy sneakers and asymmetric tunic will ensure that you look like you just walked off the runway. This look is perfect for those chilly January mornings.

Friday:

Here is a outfit for your Friday night drinks with friends. The beautiful Indian fashion statement necklace adds sparkle to a trendy, yet understated outfit. The white sneakers are the ultimate must have for this season.

Saturday:

Stand out from the crowd in this bright tangerine dress. This dress made in the latest Indian fashion designs in clothing. Pairing with the grey sneaker tones down the look and makes it appropriate to be worn around the campus, attend a concert or simply, hang out with your friends.

Sunday:

I wanted to go for a semi-casual look for Sunday. I paired a blue camisole with a pair of structured blue trousers. The latest fashion futuristic black sneakers takes the look to the next level. This look is perfect for your brunch mimosas with friends.
